Sensei what are the differences between Bujinkan Martial Arts and other arts like MMA, Aikido, Karate, Jujutsu and are there any similarities between them.
Most of the Arts you see today including the ones you mentioned have been diluted and watered down over the course of its development, which by the way is not very old in terms of years. MMA especially is not a combat art, it's for the boxing ring only.
You'll find some arts focus on sparing while others focus on forms. The focus of Bujinkan training is self protection and survival skills, where the other arts end, Bujinkan Martial Arts begins providing a beginner student many things that the other arts don't even begin to explore.
For me, it's about studying a complete Martial Art, the Bujinkan Martial Arts that we study hold the very roots of all Martial Arts, including chinese styles. Our Warrior traditions have not been diluted or watered down for the masses.
Bujinkan Martial Arts is a complete system that will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about living the Warrior path and training in an authentic Martial Art, our Warrior lineage is one of the oldest and our training is very effective for any situation.
The differences are many, for starters, we don't focus on techniques that don't work in the real world. You won't see soft cushy pads in a real Bujinkan Dojo, this only makes a student weak if confronted by an enemy in real life.
We train realistically but at the same time we train safely as well, nobody gets injured unless they themselves are training incorrectly.
The best thing to do is to try out a class so you can feel the differences.
